Where do you attend school and what activities are you involved in?
I am a current undergraduate at James Madison University and am studying Social Work along with a Creative Writing minor. I received the Student Peace Award in my senior year of high school. I also currently have a handful of published poems in an anthology and two different zines.
What have your teaching opportunities been outside of Fairfax Collegiate?
I have been working with students for the past three years, in camps and instructional settings, such as tutoring at Mathnasium and mentoring students with On the Road Collaborative.
What subjects have you taught with Fairfax Collegiate in the past?
I began working with Fairfax Collegiate in the summer of 2022, and I've taught grammar, technical writing, and creative writing courses.
What sort of experience have you had in the subject you’ll be teaching this summer?
I have taken many courses in creative writing at JMU for my minor, such as Introduction to Creative Writing- Poetry. I also took AP English Language and Composition and AP English Literature and Composition in high school.
What excites you about teaching and working with students?
My favorite part about teaching and working with young students is making learning engaging and enjoyable by meeting them where they are at and tailoring my classes to their particular skill level whenever and wherever possible.
Outside of work, what are some hobbies you enjoy?
I am a staff poet and editor for healthline zine, and a contributing editor for Iris Literary Magazine. I enjoy writing and playing Sims 4 outside of work.
