Academies of Loudoun Prep

Prepare for the Academies of Loudoun (AOS and AET) admissions exam.

Students in Loudoun County want to attend the Academies of Loudoun for its higher focus on STEM, whether that be through their Academy of Engineering and Technology or their Academy of Science.

Course Content

This Academies of Loudoun Prep course prepares students for each section of the STEM Thinking Skills Assessment and corresponding test-taking strategies. Students also prepare for the Writing Assessment by practicing personal statements.

Instructors and Class Structure

Instructors are experienced with the Academies of Loudoun admissions process and with helping students through standardized tests and essay-writing. Their feedback to students focuses on how to write organized, informative, and grammatically correct essays, along with how to efficiently work under time constraints. Instructors also send individual evaluations at the end of the course to explain each student's strengths and areas for improvement.

Each class meeting takes place synchronously via Zoom and includes instruction and feedback to support students in efficiently writing essays and practicing test-taking strategies.

Academies of Loudoun Prep Instructor: Kathleen Yung

Ms. Yung is an undergraduate student at the University of Virginia majoring in Statistics. She previously attended the Academies of Loudoun for Engineering, and she taught prep courses with Fairfax Collegiate last fall. With experience in a wide range of subjects like calculus, statistics, and engineering, she hopes to assist students in their STEM and test prep skills.
