Where do you attend school and what activities are you involved in?

I am currently a student at the University of Virginia where I am double majoring in Anthropology and French. In my time at UVA I have competed on their nationally ranked Model UN team where I won best delegate at my first GA committee. I also was on my high school's debate team where I attended nationals twice.

What have your teaching opportunities been outside of Fairfax Collegiate?

I was a volunteer English tutor training international graduate students how to be effective teaching assistants and to improve their English fluency. For two years I was a coach on my high schools's debate team training new members Lincoln Douglas debate. Lastly, I worked as a private French tutor where I improved my ability to give individualized feedback.

What sort of experience have you had in the subject you’ll be teaching this summer?

I have taken creative writing classes while at UVA as well as French literature and translation classes. I also completed a year long study regarding student attitudes on plants; my research paper on the subject received a perfect score from AP Research scorers. My success in debate and Model UN also highlights my ability to write persuasively and concisely.

What excites you about teaching and working with students?

I have had great experiences with learning thanks to passionate teachers. I believe that through working with students I can help them develop that same hunger for knowledge that inspires me to take a class on a new subject or down a new internet rabbit hole.

Outside of work, what are some hobbies you enjoy?

In my free time I can be found hiking, cooking, or taking care of my houseplants. I also love learning languages and am learning Korean. I also spend my time salsa dancing with UVA's salsa club.
