Where do you attend school and what activities are you involved in?

I just graduated from the University of Virginia, majoring in psychology and cognitive science. I am the program director of the crisis HelpLine where I manage the new volunteers and take calls. In addition, I work as a group therapist for struggling first years in college. Along with these activities, I volunteer as a dental assistant at a free clinic and am on a dance team.

What have your teaching opportunities been outside of Fairfax Collegiate?

I was a peer tutor at my high school for pre-calculus, calculus, and Spanish. I have been an online algebra II tutor for the past three summers. For the past 2 years of college, I have trained incoming members of the HelpLine on appropriate empathetic and non-judgemental techniques that are required to take calls.

What subjects have you taught with Fairfax Collegiate in the past?

I have taught with Fairfax Collegiate for 3 years. I have taught math, SAT test prep, and writing for high schoolers.

What sort of experience have you had in the subject you’ll be teaching this summer?

This summer, I am teaching SAT prep and writing. I have taught algebra II for many summers and was a math tutor in high school. I really enjoy academic writing and have taken many academic writing classes in college.
