I’m currently attending Virginia Tech, majoring in Computer Science with a concentration in Secure Computing. I’ve taken math-heavy courses like Calculus II and Discrete Math, and I’m in STEM-focused organizations like the Society of Women Engineers, Society of Asian Scientists and Engineers, and Girls Who Code. In high school, I was a member of the Math Honor Society and earned 56 college credits through AP and DE courses, including AP Calculus AB, AP Physics, and CS classes. I also got an 800 on the SAT Math section.
What have your teaching opportunities been outside of Fairfax Collegiate?I’ve been tutoring math through SchoolHouse.World since 2022. I’ve taught over 300 students from 22 countries and created my own curriculum for the SAT Math section. I’ve also mentored over 70 new tutors, helping them improve their teaching. Through the Math Honor Society in high school, I tutored my classmates and provided in-class support for Algebra and Geometry students.
What sort of experience have you had in the subject you’ll be teaching this summer?Math has been a huge part of my academic path—I’ve taken AP Calculus AB, AP Physics, Discrete Math, and Calculus II so far, and I scored 4s and 5s on all my AP exams. I ran an original SAT Math Bootcamp through SchoolHouse.World called Road to an 800 and taught six official College Board bootcamps. I also competed in Science Olympiad in high school and have completed peer tutoring hours through the Math Honor Society.
What excites you about teaching and working with students? What excites me most about teaching math is helping students finally “click” with a concept they’ve been struggling with. I like making math feel more approachable and showing students that it's okay to get things wrong along the way. I also love asking them questions that lead them to the answer themselves—it builds their confidence.
Outside of work, what are some hobbies you enjoy?Outside of math and school, I like making floral arrangements, going to the gym, and reading. I also enjoy doing service projects, like volunteering at shelters and helping with community events. I’ve always loved finding ways to give back and stay active, whether that’s through fitness, creativity, or service.
