Where do you attend school and what activities are you involved in?

I am a student at the University of Virginia majoring in biochemistry with a minor in business. Some of my extracurriculars include being a volunteer and member of the executive board for the All Girls STEM Society club at UVA. I am also a member of Alpha Chi Sigma, the professional chemistry fraternity at UVA. Next semester I am working as a research assistant in the med school and will be researching heart disease. I made the Dean's List at UVA and graduated in the top 5% of my high school class.

What have your teaching opportunities been outside of Fairfax Collegiate?

My most recent experience in teaching is through volunteering with the All Girls STEM Society club at UVA where I taught and demonstrated interesting science topics to elementary students. In high school, I was a peer tutor for 2 years and taught many subject levels in math and science. I tutored other high school students one on one and helped in small group tutoring for algebra classes. I have also volunteered as a summer camp counselor in the past.

What sort of experience have you had in the subject you’ll be teaching this summer?

I am currently taking the accelerated chemistry series at UVA; I've taken Principles of Chemical Structures and Accelerated Organic Chemistry with lab. In high school I took both AP Calculus AB & BC and tested out of college calculus.

Outside of work, what are some hobbies you enjoy?

I love playing sports (especially soccer), hiking, and working out!
