What have your teaching opportunities been outside of Fairfax Collegiate?

In reflecting on my past experiences with teaching, I find a deep sense of fulfillment and growth. Each encounter with students has been uniquely enriching, from the challenge of conveying complex ideas to the joy of witnessing their 'aha' moments. Over the years, I've honed my ability to adapt teaching methods to diverse learning styles, fostering an inclusive and supportive environment where curiosity thrives. These experiences have not only strengthened my expertise in my field but also taught me invaluable lessons in patience, empathy, and the profound impact of education on shaping lives. Each classroom has been a journey of mutual learning, where I've discovered as much as I've imparted, solidifying my commitment to the transformative power of education.

What subjects have you taught with Fairfax Collegiate in the past?

I started working with Fairfax Collegiate last year and I taught STEM classes as well as Model UN classes through the 5 sessions.

What sort of experience have you had in the subject you’ll be teaching this summer?

My experiences teaching biology and chemistry have been incredibly rewarding and dynamic. In the realm of biology, I've had the privilege of unraveling the intricacies of life sciences, from cellular processes to ecological systems, igniting curiosity and fostering a deep appreciation for the natural world among my students. Exploring topics like genetics, evolution, and human anatomy has allowed me to connect theoretical concepts with real-world applications, encouraging critical thinking and scientific inquiry. Similarly, teaching chemistry has involved unraveling the mysteries of matter and energy, from atomic structure to chemical reactions. Guiding students through experiments and demonstrations has not only reinforced their understanding of fundamental principles but also sparked enthusiasm for the experimental nature of science. These experiences have reinforced my belief in the importance of hands-on learning and personalized approaches to education, equipping students with both knowledge and a passion for scientific exploration

What excites you about teaching and working with students?

Having the opportunity to provide my students with the opportunity to better understand the concepts I am teaching and that helping them later on is something that really excited me about teaching and working with students.
