Where do you attend school and what activities are you involved in?

I am a rising third year at the University of Chicago, and I'm pursuing a degree in Economics and a degree in Computer Science. Outside of class I serve as a grader for my Economics professor, and I am involved in the UChicago Sports Analytics Group. In high school I was the treasurer of the Sports Statistics club, a member of the Russian Honor Society, a member of the National Honor Society, and a member of Investment Club.

What have your teaching opportunities been outside of Fairfax Collegiate?

Most of my teaching experience has come through my time in Boy Scouts. I served both as a Den Chief and an Assistant Senior Patrol Leader for my troop. In this role I aided scouts aged 8-16 in development of survival and personal skills. At my church I served as a senior acolyte where I worked with the clergy to organize acolytes and other participants in the service. I also served as AB Calculus tutor in high school where I assisted students in establishing understanding in foundational calculus concepts.

What sort of experience have you had in the subject you’ll be teaching this summer?

I have a lot of experience with Math throughout my academic career all the way from Algebra to some Multivariable Calculus. I got a 5 on both my AB and BC Calculus exams in high school. I am a graduate from TJHSST so I have knowledge about the variety of unique resources available to students at the school as well as a familiarity with the application process. In addition, I have experience both in preparing for and succeeding on the SAT where I got a 1540 (800 Math & 740 Reading and Writing). Lastly, I have taken multiple Biology classes during my time in high school and college.

What excites you about teaching and working with students?

I'm really excited to be in an environment where I can feed off the energy of the young students at Fairfax Collegiate. I have a passion for learning myself, and I would love to share this with the students I have the chance to instruct. I also look forward to providing a welcoming but focused learning environment where kids can learn, build relationships, and most of all have fun.

Outside of work, what are some hobbies you enjoy?

Personally, I am a massive fan of the outdoors. I love going on hikes like the Billy Goat Trail as well as assisting in local park cleanups to preserve our environment. On top of the outdoors I love playing sports like soccer, basketball, and pickleball with friends as well as watching the NBA, Premier League, and F1.
