Where have you attended school, and what activities were you involved in?
I will complete my Master of Public Health from the University of Virginia in December. Outside of class, I am part of a research team studying moral injury in healthcare providers and recently completed a practicum with the UVA Cancer Center. I am a graduate of Kenyon College, where I studied biology and neuroscience. I worked as a peer health educator and was the news editor of Kenyon's student-run newspaper for two years.
What has been your teaching experience outside of Fairfax Collegiate?
I worked as an assistant teacher at Center Stage Preschool during the 2020-2021 school year. I have also tutored students in a range of subjects and volunteered with a science education program for middle schoolers in Knox County, Ohio.
How long have you been with Fairfax Collegiate?
I started working with Fairfax Collegiate in 2022. I taught science, writing, test prep, and math courses during my time as an instructor.
What excites you about teaching and working with students?
It's rewarding to watch students grow in their understanding of a subject, especially if they previously found it tricky. I also enjoy seeing students discover new interests or skills when they take courses in subject areas they may not have explored previously.
What are you looking forward to as a location director?
I enjoy chatting with families and getting a snapshot of what students are working on when I stop into classes each day. It's fun to see projects take shape as the session progresses and the students gain more advanced knowledge of the material.
Outside of work, what are some hobbies you enjoy?
In my free time, I enjoy cooking, reading, and going to the gym.
