Where do you attend school, and what what are you studying?

I am currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Computer Science at Virginia Tech with a minor in Applied Music. At VT so far, I’ve been a software developer for Autoboat @ VT, I’ve tutored students in various math classes, and I’ve been a part of both the Jazz Ensemble and Wind Ensemble. In high school, I had various leadership roles in my school’s Math Honor Society, Tri-M Honor Society, marching band, and Band Council; as well as playing in multiple state level music ensembles for jazz and concert band.

What have your teaching opportunities been outside of Fairfax Collegiate?

Outside of school, I’ve been a math tutor for two years. In school, I taught in honor societies including Math Honor Society and my school's Writing Center, as well as being a teacher's assistant in a Data Structures class at my high school and being in leadership positions in my high school’s marching band.

What sort of experience have you had in your role this summer?

I was a Location Assistant last summer, which gave me all the experience I need in most areas of the job, and my time in leadership in my high school marching band taught me how to be a good leader.

What has been your past experience with Fairfax Collegiate?

I started working with Fairfax Collegiate last summer as a Location Assistant and as a Warehouse Manager during this past winter break.

What excites you about teaching and working with students?

Seeing the transformation of a student from the start of teaching them to the end, whether it's over a 30 minute period or over weeks, always brings me joy. I believe that every student has the potential to succeed in anything; they just need to unlock their passion for it, and I truly enjoy helping students develop that passion.

Outside of work, what are some hobbies you enjoy?

I play the trumpet, I play unnecessarily complex board games with my family and friends, and I enjoy playing video games, primarily puzzle games.
