Where do you attend school and what activities are you involved in?

I majored in biology at UVA. My extracurricular activities included All Girls STEM Society, volunteering at an endoscopy clinic, tutoring through Mathnasium, and working as a biology TA. I will also be attending Kean University to obtain my Master's in Genetic Counseling.

What have your teaching opportunities been outside of Fairfax Collegiate?

I have experience tutoring kids and cultivating their interest in STEM through my volunteer work in All Girls STEM Society. Here, we showed the kids fun presentations and did hands on activities to get them excited about science. Additionally, I have been working as a Mathnasium tutor for 4 years, which has really helped me develop my teaching style and also challenge me to adapt to the needs of the various students that I work with.

What subjects have you taught with Fairfax Collegiate in the past?

This is my second summer with Fairfax Collegiate, and I have taught Math and SAT prep.

What sort of experience have you had in the subject you’ll be teaching this summer?

Having gone to a STEM school and pursuing biology in college, I have had to give numerous talks and presentations which have equipped me with the skills to be a confident public speaker so I am excited to relay that to the class. As for math, I have been teaching this topic to Mathnasium students for the past 4 years.

What excites you about teaching and working with students?

I am excited to get to know them and really identify what their difficulties are so I can tailor my teaching to them. I like to watch them grow and be a part of their academic success and most importantly, I am passionate about teaching and I hope that passion gets conveyed to get my students excited to learn.

Outside of work, what are some hobbies you enjoy?

I am a competitive dancer (which pretty much takes up all my time) - I danced competitively in college and am continuing now post grad as well!
