Where do you attend school, and what what are you studying?

I attended James Madison University and got my Bachelor's of Social Work, with a minor in Creative Writing. During my time there, I participated in Word is Born Writer's Society and served as a contributing editor for Iris Literary Magazine.

What have your teaching opportunities been outside of Fairfax Collegiate?

In high school, I taught math as Mathnasium at the end of my senior year.

What subjects have you taught with Fairfax Collegiate in the past?

I started working with Fairfax Collegiate in the summer of 2022, teaching creative writing, reading, and writing to students ages 8-13. I taught similar courses in the summer of 2023, and later had the opportunity to begin teaching academic writing to high school students and SAT prep in the summer of 2024.

What sort of experience have you had in the subject you’ll be teaching this summer?

I completed a Creative Writing Minor at James Madison University. My classes allowed me to learn more about writing as craft, techniques, and gain experience providing mutual feedback to fellow classmates. I was nominated for the 2026 James Madison University Creative Writing Award for Poetry. Besides these accomplishments, I dedicate my free time to writing, as well as reading to lend support to this endeavor.

What excites you about teaching and working with students?

Teaching allows me to share my love and passion for writing with students. I find it so rewarding to help students feel less intimidated by writing, and to start feeling comfortable with their own voices and ideas.

Outside of work, what are some hobbies you enjoy?

Outside of work and school, I enjoy taking walks with my dog Juno, and reading anything and everything.
