Where do you attend school, and what what are you studying?

I am currently an undergraduate student at William & Mary majoring in Biology and minoring in Chemistry. I am involved in a Drosophila research lab studying stem cell development and gene function.

What have your teaching opportunities been outside of Fairfax Collegiate?

I have been tutoring students since high school and have continued tutoring throughout college in subjects including English, writing, biology, and math. At William & Mary, I volunteer as an Orientation Aide, where I help incoming students adjust to college life and feel supported and welcomed during such a major transition.

What sort of experience have you had in the subject you’ll be teaching this summer?

I have taken classes in Bioengineering, Genetic Analysis, Molecular Cell Biology, Immunology, Organic Chemistry, and Calculus. In addition to classes I've taken, I am involved in a Drosophila research lab at my school where I study the effects of a novel gene on stem cell development. Through this research, I have gained experience presenting, conducting laboratory techniques, and analyzing data.

Beyond STEM, I have taken classes in creative writing, and I write as a hobby. Currently I have two pieces in the process of being published in a literary magazine at my school.
