Where do you attend school and what activities are you involved in?

I am attending the University of Virginia where my major is Cognitive Science with a concentration in Psychology. I am also planning to minor in Biology. I am currently involved in FPAS, Future PA Society, which is an academic club for students on the pre-PA track. In high school, I was honored in Freedom High School's Excellence in Education Award Ceremony for being in the top 5% of the class of 2022. I also received the Commended Student Award in the 2022 National Merit Scholarship Program.

What have your teaching opportunities been outside of Fairfax Collegiate?

I was an in-house tutor for middle-school kids from 2019-2021 for PSAT and SAT Prep. I taught for both the Reading and Writing section and the Math section using practice problems and guided feedback. I also volunteered to tutor elementary school kids in basic reading, writing, and math skills throughout my high school career. This included reviewing mistakes from classwork as well as providing support and guidance with homework.

What sort of experience have you had in the subject you’ll be teaching this summer?

For Writing, I have taken AP English Language and Composition, AP English Literature and Composition, and a college-level Writing and Critical Inquiry class. For Math, I have taken Geometry, Algebra II/Trigonometry, AP Calculus AB, and AP Calculus BC.

What excites you about teaching and working with students?

Seeing the confidence of young students grow excites me the most about teaching young students. I love bringing out the skills and abilities that a student already has within them. Watching them grow and express their curiosity and enthusiasm is extremely rewarding.

Outside of work, what are some hobbies you enjoy?

I love to play instruments such as the marimba and piano, as well as painting. I also like to play pickleball and badminton recreationally.
