This course is designed for students interested in aviation, fast-paced tactical challenges, and PC gaming and want to learn how fighter pilots think and fly. The class blends guided practice with simulation-based missions as students learn all about modern air combat. Demonstrations, drills, and scenario-based challenges help students work their way up from basic aircraft handling to advanced decision-making in the cockpit.
Students practice takeoffs, landings, navigation, dogfighting, and strike missions using DCS World, a realistic combat simulator. They create simple mission plans, fly team-based scenarios, and experiment with maneuvers and tactics used by real pilots. Fairfax Collegiate provides gaming PCs and flight stick controllers for each student.
At the end of the course, instructors upload photos and videos of student flights for families to access. Students leave with a solid understanding of air combat concepts and the confidence to explore more advanced aviation, simulation, or engineering projects.
Fairfax Collegiate will offer this course for the first time in the 2026 Summer Program, and the full course syllabus (goals, topics, and day-by-by schedule) will be posted closer to the start of the Summer Program.
