Design and code your unique gameplay experience.
This course is ideal for students who enjoy programming, game design, or technical challenges and want a quick introduction to building games with the Godot engine. The class combines step-by-step tutorials with short guided projects as students explore the Godot interface and learn how simple ideas grow into playable game systems. Lessons build steadily, giving students a clear path from early tools to basic scripting and interactive behavior.
Students see how nodes, scenes, and GDScript work together to create responsive game worlds, and they practice these skills through a series of small games and prototypes. They script player movement, connect signals so objects can react to one another, and add mechanics inspired by platformers, arcade games, space shooters, and other familiar genres. Fairfax Collegiate provides laptops equipped with Godot for all student work.
At the end of the course, families receive digital copies of all student projects, uploaded for easy access at home. Students leave ready to keep experimenting in Godot, more confident with programming fundamentals, and prepared to take on more complex game ideas in the future.
