3D Modeling

Rising Grades 5 to 6

Step into the world of 3D design and bring your ideas to life.

In this course, students will dive into the world of 3D modeling and digital design using Fusion360, a powerful tool for creating printable 3D models. Students will explore the fundamentals of digital modeling, including learning to create shapes, manipulating forms, and preparing designs for 3D printing. With a focus on hands-on projects, students will develop essential skills in design, precision, and visualization, bringing their ideas from concept to model. Throughout the course, students will work on a variety of creative projects, each introducing new tools and design principles. Possible projects include personalized keychains, functional objects like phone stands or cable organizers, and custom bookmarks. As they work, students will learn to think about how their designs will function and look in the real world, considering factors like strength, balance, and aesthetic appeal. Each project is geared toward sparking creativity and encouraging experimentation with different shapes and features. By the end of the course, students will have several completed projects they can take home as tangible, 3D-printed creations. They’ll leave with foundational skills in digital modeling and an understanding of the 3D printing process. Students will feel accomplished, inspired, and ready to continue exploring the exciting possibilities of digital design and fabrication, equipped with new skills and hands-on experience in creating their own 3D-printed objects.
