This class is ideal for beginners who are excited about video games, digital animation, and creating 3D art. Students learn through short demonstrations followed by guided practice and workshop-style project time, giving them plenty of support as they build new skills. The pace is friendly and encouraging, helping students feel confident as they explore Blender for the first time.
Students create a series of game-style animations and models, including characters, props, movement loops, and short cinematic moments. They experiment with modeling, rigging, and animating simple characters, then bring scenes to life with walking cycles, action poses, camera moves, and environmental motion. Each project connects directly to how real games use animation. Fairfax Collegiate provides each student with a PC to use.
At the end of the course, students take home a digital portfolio of their completed projects. They leave ready to build more complex animations, try new Blender tools, or explore game design with greater confidence.
Fairfax Collegiate will offer this course for the first time in the 2026 Summer Program, and the full course syllabus (goals, topics, and day-by-by schedule) will be posted closer to the start of the Summer Program.
