Advanced EV3 Robotics

This course introduces Lego’s just released EV3 robotics platform. EV3 features new motors, sensors, remote controllers, and programming capabilities.

This course emphasizes advanced programming and more complex challenges. Students are challenged to program their robots with a higher degree of independence and decision-making power based on sensor feedback, in order to perform difficult challenges with multiple components and objectives.

Projects include gyro-driven navigation, obstacle removal, infrared tracking, and robot soccer.

EV3 Robotics

Students design, construct, and program their robots to perform in sensor-based challenges, as well as robotic competitions. Course projects include hill climbing, beacon retrieval, color sensor navigation, and robot combat.

Intermediate EV3 Robotics

This course uses Lego's recently released EV3 robotics platform. EV3 features new motors, sensors, remote controllers, and programming capabilities.

In the Intermediate EV3 course, students learn additional programming tools, building techniques, and engineering principles. Their robots will engage in more complex challenges such as maze navigation, robot jousting, drag races, and towing competitions.

Creative WeDo Robotics

This class is designed for students who are looking for additional WeDo robotics challenges.

The course emphasizes creative problem-solving challenges, design innovation, and basic applied math concepts. Using an expanded construction set, students build more complex mechanisms and robots, and use their innovation and critical thinking skills to engineer their own creative solutions to exciting challenges.

WeDo Robotics

WeDo Robotics introduces young students to simple robotics systems.

Students will build Lego models with functional motors and sensors, and learn how to control them with basic programming skills. Through a variety of tasks and activities, students get a chance to learn and gain confidence with simple robotics skills before moving on to more advanced concepts.

WeDo Robotics with Scratch

This advanced level WeDo class will emphasize programming using Scratch.

Scratch was created by MIT as a fun introduction to programming for elementary-aged students. Students snap graphical blocks together to create scripts that control media such as graphics, photos, and sound.

Scratch interacts with the Lego WeDo robotics kits to create new and exciting WeDo robotics challenges. In addition to controlling their robots through Scratch scripts, students can also control computer animations and games using the feedback from WeDo sensors.
