in-person Virginia School of Math Courses!

Review, Support, Look Ahead

Year-round, weekend, in-person math classes. Build your math on a solid foundation.

Every student has a unique background, comfort level, and attitude towards math. Students may also not get the attention or help they need in school and could either use extra support or more of a challenge.

Fairfax Collegiate's new in-person, weekend Virginia School of Math helps students to master the fundamentals and then work ahead at their own pace. When it comes to math education, we believe:

  • Daily, deliberate practice is key to progress in math
  • Every math student should have a human mentor
  • In-person math instruction is more effective than online instruction
  • Math problems should be worked out by hand
  • Math students learn at different rates and need personalized work
  • Asynchronous computer programs and games can't teach math sufficiently
  • For K-12 math, calculators are used too often as a crutch

The Virginia School of Math meets in-person for weekend classes starting on September 9. Each Virginia School of Math course complements and goes beyond its corresponding public school course. Each course also:

  • Aligns to the Virginia Standards of Learning, so parents can be sure that each course will cover the same topics as their children’s school year math classes at a minimum
  • Includes a diagnostic test to help instructors determine how to best help each student
  • Allows our instructors to provide frequent individual assistance, feedback, and encouragement to each student, given our small class sizes

Space in these in-person classes is limited. See our course list below and register now to help your child excel in math this year.

Classes meet every week on Saturdays or Sundays for one month at a time at the Compass Classes Herndon location:

520 Herndon Parkway
Suite D
Herndon, VA 20170

Families can register for multiple months to have ongoing support throughout the school year.

Classes start September 9, 2023. Registration is open now.
