Prepare for the PSAT 8/9, and get on track to meet your SAT and PSAT/NMSQT goals.
The College Board produces the PSAT 8/9 to serve students with ambitious academic goals. The PSAT 8/9 test sections and format are similar to the SAT and PSAT/NMSQT but the difficulty of the questions is better aligned with the math and verbal skills expected of an 8th-9th grader. This allows students to get an early look at what it's like to take a test that covers such a wide range of their learning, and helps them formulate a plan for how they want to approach their studies.
The math review portion of the course covers algebraic expressions and equations, graphical representations, statistics, and strategies for both the calculator and no-calculator portions of the test. The reading/writing review emphasizes grammar and mechanics, locating information, making inferences, and analyzing rhetoric.
Students complete two practice PSAT 8-9 tests under timed conditions and become familiar with question formats, test scoring, and time-management strategies. Instructors write evaluations with suggestions for improvement.
