Esports Arena

Rising Grades 7 to 9

Build modern gaming PCs, and take on the role of esports athletes.

The course begins with a unit on PC gaming technology. Students learn about the different components of a computer, how to evaluate their performance, and then each student assembles a full-fledged gaming PC using computer parts that Fairfax Collegiate provides.

Next, students use these computers to play two popular e-sports games: League of Legends and Rocket League. Instructors help students quickly learn the rules and tactics of each game, and help students understand the advantages of applying creative and strategic thinking. The social nature of the class also promotes valuable leadership and teamwork skills.

League of Legends has a "Teen" rating from the Entertainment Software Ratings Board. Rocket League's ESRB rating is rated "Everyone."
