Strengthen your ability to argue, inform, and inspire with your writing.
In this expository and argumentative writing course, students explore the art of clear, structured writing to communicate their ideas effectively. They engage in a variety of activities that teach them how to explain topics in detail, form opinions, and support arguments with solid reasons. Through engaging lessons, students learn to organize their thoughts, write compelling introductions and conclusions, and use descriptive language to enhance their explanations.
Throughout the course, students work on larger projects that give them a chance to dive deeper into their interests and practice multi-step writing. Projects may include creating a persuasive poster, writing a "How-To" guide on a favorite activity, or developing a fact sheet about an animal of their choice. They may also work on writing a formal letter to their school principal to practice sharing their opinions and supporting their ideas with logical reasons. Each project is broken down into manageable steps to help students build confidence and improve their writing at every stage.
By the end of the course, students will have gained a range of writing skills and completed several polished pieces they can feel proud of. They’ll leave with a greater understanding of how to present their ideas clearly, how to back up their opinions with reasons, and how to write for different purposes. Most importantly, they’ll feel confident in their writing abilities and inspired to keep developing their skills.
