This course is designed to give students an advanced look at some of the more difficult topics in general high school, honors, or AP Chemistry, covering four primary units: Atomic Structure and Bonding, Chemical Equations and Stoichiometry, States of Matter, and Solutions and Mixtures. Familiarity with basic algebraic concepts is encouraged.
This course is academically aggressive, with an emphasis on preparation, testing, comprehension, and the necessary math involved in high school Chemistry. Classes begin with an overview and review of major concepts, before diving into more detailed examination through lectures and problem sets. Individual and group work allows students to practice and improve their understanding in preparation for two comprehensive exams throughout the course.
In providing this class online, we continue to provide instruction in four primary units, and it is an academically rigorous course. As our online courses feature live instruction, students are able to work with each other as they complete problem sets and other group work to prepare for assessments.
