Advanced Probability and Statistics 7-9

This class provides 7th- through 9th-grade students with a rigorous and practice-oriented introduction to high school probability. Topics begin at the 7th-grade level and end with high-school level probability and statistics that is covered in an Algebra 2 class.

Topics include (but are not limited to), histograms, stem-and-leaf plots, line plots, circle graphs, boxplots, scatterplots, linear, quadratic, and exponential regression, direct and inverse variation, simple probability, independent and dependent events, counting techniques, real-world probability word problems, the standard curve, and the 68-95-99.7 rule.

Extra material recommended: Calculator (TI-83, TI-84, or TI-89)

Requirements:

  • Students must have a device with a microphone and a camera
  • A device with a keyboard is recommended, but optional
  • Students must have access to a printer
  • Students must have a reliable internet connection
