Build smarter, cooler creations.
This course is a great fit for students who enjoy Minecraft and want to learn how to build smarter, more creative designs using redstone. Instruction uses short demonstrations, guided practice, and activity-based challenges, and helps students make connections to STEM concepts like circuits, logic, and engineering design.
Students build projects such as doors, mini-machines, and simple farms as they explore redstone signals, pistons, observers, and logic gates. They take on fun challenges and create a multi-step project that reflects their interests, from secret bases to puzzle rooms to small automated systems. Throughout the course, they practice problem-solving and iteration - key skills in both Minecraft and real-world engineering.
At the end of the course, students take home their Minecraft worlds to continue building and improving their projects. They leave with a stronger grasp of core engineering concepts and the confidence to design more advanced redstone creations on their own.
Fairfax Collegiate will offer this course for the first time in the 2026 Summer Program, and the full course syllabus (goals, topics, and day-by-by schedule) will be posted closer to the start of the Summer Program.
