Rising Grades 7 to 9

Create and manage your own home lab to explore real-world IT, hardware, and cybersecurity skills.

In this hands-on course, students explore the exciting world of computer home labbing, learning essential IT skills that connect directly to the A+ certification. They will gain practical experience with computer hardware, software, networking, and cybersecurity through real-world projects and troubleshooting scenarios as they manage our classroom home lab environment.

Throughout the course, students work on a variety of projects that simulate authentic IT tasks. They will assemble personal computers and install multiple operating systems, set up home networks, configure firewalls, create virtual machines, and explore basic cybersecurity principles such as penetration testing. As a final project, students take a mock CompTIA A+ exam.

By the end of the course, students will have a strong foundation in IT concepts and the confidence to manage their own computer systems and networks. They will leave with practical skills in troubleshooting, security, and system management, feeling accomplished and ready to take on more advanced IT challenges or pursue certifications.
