US Constitution 7-8

Write | Discuss | Revise: U.S. Constitution 7-8 is a content-based writing course for seventh and eighth grade students. Students read, discuss, and write about the U.S. Constitution.

The course meets weekly over Zoom for eight weeks. Each class is seventy-five minutes. There will be four to ten students in the class.

Each class includes writing instruction. Students use conjunctions, appositives, and varied sentence types to write sentences about complex ideas. They plan, outline, and write well-organized paragraphs. They learn a note-taking system. They practice writing multi-paragraph essays.

Students write two to five paragraphs about the U.S. Constitution. Each student meets with the instructor over Zoom for a 10-minute individual writing conference during the week to discuss drafts and plan revisions. Final papers are due before the next class.
