Filmmaking 7-9

Students learn how to plan, write, shoot, edit, and complete post-production for digital short films.

With the guidance of instructors, students brainstorm ideas for a short film, write an original script, and create a shot list and storyboard.

Students edit their film using Adobe Premiere, add music and credits, complete postproduction, and export the film to a private Vimeo account for home viewing.

Students collaborate in a digital environment to produce these films. Students shoot their films using their own cameras, incorporating a variety of costumes and props.

Students will need a device with a web camera and microphone. It is recommended that they use a tablet or smartphone if possible. Students will write scripts collaboratively in Google Docs, so a familiarity with word processing and the Google Docs interface is recommended as well.
