This hands-on, lab based course covers important topics in middle and high school physics. Students maintain detailed lab notebooks with observations, inferences, and conclusions, and learn how to properly structure scientific lab reports. Familiarity with simple algebra concepts is encouraged.
Week 1 examines classical mechanics, Newton’s laws, and basic 2D kinematics, with experiments involving distance, displacement, velocity, and acceleration. Week 2 focuses on waves, optics, and light. Hands-on activities with low-power ‘eye-safe’ lasers demonstrate light as a particle and wave, reflection, refraction, and laser applications.
